Insidenorway over the Atlantic

Four Norwegian companies participated at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in New York 14.-17. May 2011. In these days the Norwegian Pavillion for ICFF 2012 is under preparation.

Insidenorway is The Association of Norwegian Furniture Industry’s own exhibition concept and has been displayed for the last six years at several places in the world, at small and large exhibitions. This was the fourth time Insidenorway is showing in New York with different companies represented.

In 2011 the participants was; VAD, Hødnebø, So-Ro and Røros Tweed. They represent a wide range at a modest area, but will draw a lot of attention and interest among the visitors.

From past experience we have noticed that the Scandinavian Design and the use of materials are quite popular amongst the urban population at Manhattan. Røros Tweed is showing their wool blankets designed by Anderssen&Voll and Arne&Carlos. Both designs with distinct Norwegian references. This characteristic is also suitable for VAD's chair Nord designed by Steinar Hindenes and Petter Knudsen’s design.  With pine and molded felt we can probably guarantee attention amongst the audience that is more interested in wooden materials than one first would think. Hødnebø's Spinnaker Chair does also have distinct Norwegian references with its sails (canvas) and the maritime environment in Norway's southern parts. so-so is a new contribution to the Norwegian furniture industry and has gotten lots of attention for its special cradles. The cradles have a simple, modern and elegant design and a functionality that separates it from the "normal" cradles - it soothes in linear motions.

The exhibition is a collaboration between the Consulate in New York, Innovation Norway and The Association of Norwegian Industry.
